About Pasadena

Pasadena is one of the larger cities in the Los Angeles, with a population of slightly less than 150,000 people. It has a population density of approximately 6,000 people per square mile, which is around the same as the city’s average. Pasadena’s incorporation occurred just after that of Los Angeles, making it one of the oldest cities in California.

This city is surrounded by several noteworthy natural formations: the Raymond Fault line, the San Gabriel Mountains, and the San Rafael Hills. It is also ideally located for easy access to the nearby communities of Glendale, Highland Park, South Pasadena, San Marino, Eagle Rock, Temple City, San Gabriel, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, Altadena, and La Canada Flintridge.

Living in Pasadena

Pasadena is best known for its yearly Rose Bowl football game and its accompanying Tournament of Roses parade. This parade is sponsored by Honda and is one of the most viewed New Year’s Day parades in America. Marching bands, horses, and assorted floats delight spectators from all over the world. Several hundred thousand people come to watch the event in person and millions more tune in from all over the United States and 100 other countries. The parade is followed up by the Rose Bowl football game, and even that was originally founded to help cover the costs of the parade.

This city is also a hot spot for the science industry. Most notably, Pasadena is home to the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). It also includes the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a facility that is owned by NASA but is overseen by Caltech.

Pasadena is also filled with tons of art museums and other cultural sites. One such example is the Norton Simon Museum, a museum that is known for its collection of European and Asian sculptures, tapestries, and paintings. The museum’s collections also include an outdoor sculpture garden and other more modern works of art. If the Asian artwork interests you, you might want to visit the Pacific Asia Museum, an establishment that includes artwork from different regions of Asia and spans several countries and cultures.
